Australia vs India, 51st Match, Super 8 Group 1 - Live

Australia vs India, 51st Match, Super 8 Group 1 - Live

When: Australia vs India, June 24, 10.30 AM Local, 20.00 hrs IST (June 24) 00.30 am (June 25) AEST

Where: Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, Beausjour, Saint Lucia

What to expect: St Lucia has continued to remain the most humid of all islands throughout while being the best place to bat in during this World Cup. In a tournament, where the vagaries in conditions have had quite a say, the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground has been one where most teams have thrived, and it serves as probably the best venue to host this highly-billed battle, especially now with the stakes so high.

There was a heavy shower overnight in the island but it is expected to clear out even if it is set to be a rather windy morning.

Head-to-Head in T20 World Cups: Played 5, India 3, Australia 2

Team Watch:

Australia:

As much as Ashton Agar's selection predicated, the decision to leave Mitchell Starc out has caused a lot of discussion back in Australia, especially considering he'd seemed in fine form and only taken over from Lasith Malinga as the fast bowler with the most World Cup (50 over and T20 combined) wickets in his previous game. Expect a direct swap with Starc coming back for this big game.

Probable XI: Travis Head, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh (c), Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade (wk), Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood

India:

India have more or less settled in on what was touted to be their best XI before the tournament began once they moved to the Caribbean from the USA. And the presence of Kuldeep Yadav in conditions where the batters will try going after everything will be key after the left-arm wrist spinner had to wait his turn to get into the World Cup. You'd expect them to go in with the same XI that played against Bangladesh, especially given the lack of assistance from the pitch for fast bowlers.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah

Squads:

India Squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Ravindra Jadeja, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, Mohammed Siraj, Yashasvi Jaiswal

Australia Squad: Travis Head, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh(c), Glenn Maxwell, Marcus Stoinis, Tim David, Matthew Wade(w), Pat Cummins, Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Starc, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Nathan Ellis

England vs South Africa, 45th Match, Super 8 Group 2 - Live

England vs South Africa, 45th Match, Super 8 Group 2 - Live

When: England vs South Africa, June 21, 2.30PM GMT, 10.30AM Local, 4.30PM SAST, 8PM IST

Where: Darren Sammy National Cricket stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia

What to expect: No rain, but plenty of heat and humidity. And runs: half the top 10 totals in the tournament have been scored in St Lucia.

Head to head in T20 World Cups: England 2-4 South Africa

Team Watch:

England

Jos Buttler's team are in the throes of an unemphatic but also an efficient defence of the title they won in Australia in 2022.

Tactics & Matchups: Phil Salt and Jonny Bairstow are key to the firing of a potent batting line-up.

Probable XI: Phil Salt, Jos Buttler (c&wk), Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley

South Africa

Now that they've shown what they can do on what Quinton de Kock called a "decent pitch finally" in Antigua on Wednesday, the batting unit needs to kick on.

Tactics & Matchups: Ottneil Baartman should return, which would mean only one specialist spinner.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram (c), Tristan Stubbs, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Ottneil Baartman

Did you know?

- Phil Salt is the only batter in either squad who is among the tournament's top 10 runscorers.

- Similarly, Anrich Nortje is the sole representative in the top 10 wicket-takers.

- England have won all four T20Is they have played in St Lucia and South Africa have lost both of theirs.

What they said:

"It's been a really topsy-turvy start. It didn't really feel like we played much cricket up to this point. But, in tournament cricket, you need a bit of confidence and momentum at the right time and you need it to keep building. So to get a win against the hosts gives us the first push in that direction." - Phil Salt suggests England are cleared for take-off after their win over West Indies on Wednesday.

"There's no point thinking about it. If you don't have the belief you might as well pack your bags and go home. Whatever happens happens, but the belief is there." - Kagiso Rabada declines to discuss South Africa's unhappy record in tournaments.

Squads:

England Squad: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w/c), Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley, Ben Duckett, Will Jacks, Chris Jordan, Tom Hartley

South Africa Squad: Quinton de Kock(w), Reeza Hendricks, Aiden Markram(c), David Miller, Heinrich Klaasen, Tristan Stubbs, Marco Jansen, Keshav Maharaj, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Tabraiz Shamsi, Ryan Rickelton, Ottneil Baartman, Bjorn Fortuin, Gerald Coetzee

Namibia vs England, 34th Match, Group B - Live

Namibia vs England, 34th Match, Group B - Live

When: Saturday, June 15, at 5 PM GMT | 1 PM Local

Where: Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua

What to expect: The wicket in Antigua this World Cup has been kinder to pacers (21 wickets) than spinners (11 wickets). All three games here have been won by chasing sides. Add to that a slight chance of rainfall before the official start-time, and the captain winning the toss should have no hesitation in opting to field first to make the most of the conditions.

Teams Watch

England

Injuries/Unavailability: At the risk of sounding complacent, England might be tempted to rest Jofra Archer for a game, given the quick turnaround. Sam Curran, who is yet to feature in this World Cup, might get a shot against Namibia.

Probable XI: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler (c & wk), Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran/Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley

Namibia

Injuries/Unavailability: Out of the qualification race, Namibia may want to give Dylan Leicher a chance who is yet to play a World Cup game for the country.

Probable XI: Nikolaas Davin, Michael van Lingen, Jan Frylinck, Gerhard Erasmus (c), JJ Smit, Zane Green (wk), David Wiese, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Jack Brassell/Ben Shikongo, Tangeni Lungmeni

Did you know?

- England and Namibia have never faced each other previously in T20Is

- Moeen Ali needs only one wicket to register 50 in T20Is, whereas Erasmus is three away from the same milestone.

Squads:

England Squad: Philip Salt, Jos Buttler(w/c), Will Jacks, Jonny Bairstow, Harry Brook, Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, Jofra Archer, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood, Reece Topley, Chris Jordan, Ben Duckett, Sam Curran, Tom Hartley

Namibia Squad: Michael van Lingen, Nikolaas Davin, Jan Frylinck, Gerhard Erasmus(c), JJ Smit, Zane Green(w), David Wiese, Ruben Trumpelmann, Bernard Scholtz, Jack Brassell, Ben Shikongo, JP Kotze, Malan Kruger, Tangeni Lungameni, Dylan Leicher, Peter-Daniel Blignaut

When: USA vs India, June 12, 10:30 AM Local, 8 PM IST

Where: Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York

What to expect: Many more runs than scored so far on the drop-in pitches here in NY. If India were to bat first, a healthy total of over 160 is an eminent possibility with Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and other Indian batters looking for runs. The match will also be a test for the USA team as they will be up against a mighty opposition.

Head to Head: 0-0. India and the USA have never faced each other in Twenty20 Internationals, and for that matter in any format.

Team Watch

INDIA

Injuries/unavailability: All players are available for selection. Unlikely that there will be any changes to the side that played against Pakistan although there will always be this temptation of bringing in the wrist spin Kuldeep Yadav into the mix. Shivam Dube's position may be vulnerable but this Indian team is known to give players a long rope.

Tactics & Matchups: They will go with the same four-man pace attack. It is a no-brainer given the conditions of the pitch. The left-right combination was discarded during the Pakistan game and Axar Patel was sent ahead of a few regular batsmen, including Suryakumar Yadav and such a change in batting order is unlikely against the USA. Rishabh Pant has been on a roll in this World Cup with scores of 36 not out and 42, and he should continue to bat at No 3.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, Arshdeep Singh

Team Watch

USA

The hosts may feel pressed to change their winning bowling combination that took the field against Pakistan. The Indian lineup boasts of 4 left-handers in the middle and lower order who were deployed quite flexibly by the team management. If USA stick to the T20 match template, that may force Nostush Kenjige out of the XI after match-winning three-wicket haul in the previous game. However, the tacky nature of the wicket where the batters have found it difficult to hit through the line may tempt USA to stick to their guns.

Tactics & Match Ups: Corey Anderson hasn't had much role to play with the bat this tournament. USA's star all rounder, who stayed unbeaten after facing 2 deliveries on the opening night, was quite inexplicably held back in the dugout in a tense chase that got US out of jail off the last ball, almost. Unarguably, their most powerful and experienced ball striker was seen as surplus to requirements in the Super Over. The presence of spin duo of Patel and Jadeja in the India attack should serve as more than an invite for Anderson to make a splash in what is billed to be the biggest game in USA's cricketing history. The USA would need every bit of his brute force and experience to hold their own against an unsparing adversary.

Probable XI: Steven Taylor, Monank Patel (c & wk), Andries Gous, Aaron Jones, Nitish Kumar, Corey Anderson, Harmeet Singh, Jasdeep Singh, Nosthush Kenjige, Saurabh Netravalkar, Ali Khan.

Did You Know?

India have defended sub-150 totals four times in T20Is, and Jasprit Bumrah is the only one to have featured in each of them, with two POTM performances. He was also the POTM when India defended 67/5 in a rain-shortened 8-over game vs NZ in Trivandrum in 2017.

Five members in the USA squad were born in India. Milind Kumar, Harmeet Singh, Ronak Patel, Saurabh Netravalkar and Nisarg Patel are the desi cricketers in the American team.

Harmeet Singh dismissed Ross Taylor in the only IPL game he played, for RR under Rahul Dravid

Squads:

India Squad: Rohit Sharma(c), Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant(w), Suryakumar Yadav, Shivam Dube, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, Kuldeep Yadav, Yashasvi Jaiswal

Pakistan vs Canada, 22nd Match, Group A - Live

Pakistan vs Canada, 22nd Match, Group A - Live

When: Tuesday, June 11, 10:30 AM (Local Time), 8:00 PM (IST)

Where: Pakistan vs Canada, Nassau County International Cricket Stadium, New York

What to expect: Run scoring has been extremely difficult at the Nassau County ground, and it's expected to be another low-scoring encounter. It is expected to be slightly cloudly as well, but no rain is predicted.

Head to head: Pakistan 1 - 0 Canada

Team Watch:

Pakistan: Babar Azam's side may stick to a similar combination, but could be tempted to bring in Azam Khan or Saim Ayub in place of Usman Khan

Tactics & Matchups: Aaron Johnson has been explosive in the Powerplay, especially against the left-arm pacers. Naseem Shah could hold the key as Pakistan will look to get him out early. In what is expected to be a low-scoring encounter, the duration of Johnson's stay in the middle could prove decisive.

Probable XI: Mohammad Rizwan, Saim Ayub, Babar Azam, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Imad Wasim/Azam Khan, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Amir

Canada: At the back of their historic win, the team from North America might prefer to go unchanged.

Tactics & Matchups: Even as the conditions have aided pacers, the likes of Babar Azam, Azam Khan, Saim Ayub and Imad Wasim haven't enjoyed playing spinners either, striking at less than 125 in T20Is since January 2022.

Probable XI: Aaron Johnson, Navneet Dhaliwal, Pargat Singh, Dilpreet Bajwa, Nicholas Kirton, Shreyas Movva, Dillon Heylinger, Saad bin Zafar, Junai Siddiqui, Kaleem Sana, Jeremy Gordon

Did you know?

Pakistan's Powerplay run-rate of 5.41 is currently the lowest among the 20 teams in the T20 WC 2024

Aaron Johnson has had a strike rate of 147.40 in the Powerplay in T20Is since the last T20 World Cup. In comparison, Fakhar Zaman and Mohammad Rizwan have had strike rates of 132.03 and 121.43 respectively in this period

What they said:

Bouncing back from the first game was important. Trust me, it wasn't that easy... Very good to get our first win in the WC. Hopefully we can continue from strength to strength. Our next focus is Pakistan - Nicholas Kirton, following Canada's win against Ireland

As a batting unit, you can't lose as many wickets as we are losing. Players have got to take responsibility when that opportunity comes - Gary Kirsten after Pakistan's loss against India

Squads:

Canada Squad: Aaron Johnson, Navneet Dhaliwal, Pargat Singh, Dilpreet Bajwa, Nicholas Kirton, Shreyas Movva(w), Dillon Heyliger, Saad Bin Zafar(c), Junaid Siddiqui, Kaleem Sana, Jeremy Gordon, Nikhil Dutta, Rishiv Ragav Joshi, Rayyan Pathan, Ravinderpal Singh

Pakistan Squad: Mohammad Rizwan(w), Babar Azam(c), Usman Khan, Fakhar Zaman, Imad Wasim, Shadab Khan, Iftikhar Ahmed, Shaheen Afridi, Naseem Shah, Haris Rauf, Mohammad Amir, Abrar Ahmed, Saim Ayub, Azam Khan, Abbas Afridi
